Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting with the World Bank (WB) Country Director in Vietnam - Ms. Carolyn Turk to expand cooperation between two sides with the presence of leaders of units under the Ministry of Construction, WB experts in Vietnam on July 1st.

Ms. Carolyn Turk thanked Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi for warmly welcome and also emphasized the achieved results of both sides over the past time.
Carolyn Turk expressed her delight at the issuance of Resolution 06/NQ-TW by the Politburo of Vietnam on January 24, 2022 on urban planning, construction, management and sustainable development of Vietnam until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Vietnam needed to study and analyze current urban issues in order to effectively implement Resolution 06/NQ-TW. Over the past time, the World Bank and the Urban Development Department (Ministry of Construction) have had many specific exchange programs to provide frameworks and approaches to urban development programs and projects, helping for cities to fully identify opportunities and challenges in the process of development and better solve urban problems such as housing and land use.
Ms. Carolyn Turk said that the WB was ready to support the Ministry of Construction in implementation of a consistent and holistic approach in urban development and hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would strengthen its cooperation to promote the development of Vietnamese cities, especially medium-sized cities effectively.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his gratitude to the WB over the years for its attention and assistance to the Ministry of Construction in effectively implementing its management roles and functions, including urban development.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the overall approach in urban planning and development of the World Bank and said that the two sides need to coordinate with Vietnam's ministries and branches to agree on how to implement the urban development projects with the highest efficiency.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi assigned units of the Ministry to work with WB experts to unify the implementation process of ODA projects.
