Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung received the Vice President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam

On January 17^th, 2024, at the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung received and worked with Mr. Jean-Jacques Bouflet - Vice President of the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Vietnam. Leaders of units under the Ministry of Construction; Leader of a number of Subcommittees of EuroCham Vietnam attended the meeting.

Mr. Jean-Jacques Bouflet thanked Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung for meeting and working with the delegation. He also said that EuroCham Vietnam currently has 1,400 members, mainly operating in the field of political advocacy. Regarding to its activities, EuroCham Vietnam is hoping to expand cooperation with the Ministry of Construction, organizations and businesses in the Construction industry.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Construction Subcommittee of EuroCham Vietnam Michael Cassagnes also said that the Subcommittee was established in 2023, connecting all European businesses operating in Vietnam to share experience in artificial intelligence, design, construction. Currently, the Subcommittee has 20 members to active in the field of policy advocacy and events organization.

EuroCham Vietnam's Construction Subcommittee always wants the Ministry of Construction to participate in events which organized by the Subcommittee and hopes to expand  cooperation with the Ministry of Construction in fields related to fire prevention and fighting, and FIDIC contracts, said Mr Michael Cassagnes.

Speaking at the meeting, emphasizing the areas under the state management function of the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung assessed that expanding cooperation with EuroCham will help the Ministry of Construction gain more valuable experience in updating, supplementing and synchronizing the system of policies and laws in the Construction industry; create favorable conditions for people and businesses.

Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung said that fire prevention and fighting for construction projects is one of the areas which the MoC pays attention to. In October 2023, the Ministry of Construction issued Circular 09/2023/TT-BXD to promulgate the amendment 1:2023 QCVN 06:2022/BXD National technical regulations on fire safety for houses and buildings.  During the implementation process, the Ministry of Construction always draws on practical experience and updates international experience, including European experience; to update and further improve the quality and practicality of the standard.

Regarding the cooperation in implementing and applying FIDIC contracts, according to Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung, Vietnam has applied this contract model many years ago, but with the current integration trend, Vietnam wishes to expand cooperation with EuroCham to gain more experience in implementing this contract model in accordance with international practices.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung and Vice President Jean-Jacques Bouflet agreed to further promote cooperation between the Ministry of Construction and EuroCham Vietnam in the coming time. Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung also assigned the International Cooperation Department to be the contact and exchange point with EuroCham Vietnam's focal unit.
