Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Hong Minh had a working session with the delegation of the World Bank (WB) led by Mr. Benoit Bosquet, Director of Sustainable Development for East Asia - Pacific (World Bank) aiming to strengthen the cooperation between the WB and the Ministry of Construction in implementing the Program on smart cities development to adapt to climate change.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh and Director Benoit Bosquet discussed the contents of the Program on smart cities development to adapt to climate change and the program's concepts and operating mechanisms under Recommendations in Resolution 06-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2022 of the Politburo on planning, construction, management and sustainable development of urban areas in Vietnam to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
The leader of the expert group on disaster risk management Marc S. Forni highly appreciated the important results in the cooperation relationship between the World Bank and the Ministry of Construction over the past time, and also expressed his wish to strengthen the exchange and share experiences on urban development model suitable to Vietnam’s reality.
Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh acknowledged the interest and assistance of the World Bank for Vietnam in urban development in particular and the fields under the role and function of State management of the Ministry of Construction in general.
Vietnam is rapidly developing so that it is always interested in learning from the experiences of previous countries, actively drawing lessons from experience to improve the capacity of the country. As a result, Vietnam's capacity for building and perfecting institutions and policies is now relatively quick and flexible.
In urban development, Vietnam always builds a standard model and then replicates it nationwide. Currently, the Ministry of Construction is actively reviewing and accurately identifying challenges in the process of urban development; coordinating with localities to design both "hard" and "soft" urban models, toward smart, sustainable development and effective adaptation to climate change.
Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh and Director Benoit Bosquet agreed that the two sides would further strengthen thematic exchanges and discussions towards an urban development model suitable to the practical conditions of Vietnam and effective adaption to climate change.
