Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi receives Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz on September 27^th.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, which had cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi shared the damage and losses of the recent oil storage facility fire with Mr Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz and strongly believed that the Cuban government and people would overcome all difficulties and continue to develop stronger.

Over the past time, the cooperation between two sides in other fields such as economy, trading, health, agriculture, investment, education, culture and sport, tourism, science and technology... were basically being implemented according to the commitment.

Regarding the action plan to implement the medium-term bilateral economic agenda between Vietnam and Cuba for the period of 2023-2025, the two sides have completed the draft and reached an agreement to be able to sign on the occasion to Vietnam of Cuban Prime Minister.

According to Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, at the 40th session of the Intergovernmental Commission scheduled to be held in November 2022 in Cuba, the two sides will agree on cooperation contents for the period 2022-2023 including, strengthen the exchange of information, coordination mechanism to promote trade and investment cooperation, especially solutions to remove existing difficulties and help businesses of the two sides in implementing trade and investment cooperation projects.

Cuban Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz expressed his thanks to the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction for the warm welcome to the Cuban delegation. He fully agreed with the comments by Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi of brief assessments of the bilateral cooperation situation between the two sides in recent years.

National Assembly Cuba has approved a list of 70 solutions proposed by the Cuban Government to quickly recover and promote the country's economic development. Therefore, Cuba wants international partner businesses, including Vietnamese ones, to further strengthen cooperation and investment in Cuba, especially in exports between the two countries.

To conclude the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that Vietnam agreed to increase the trade turnover between the two countries, including Cuba's exports to Vietnam, especially in the field of Cuba currently has potential strengths. Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi also assigned the Department of International Cooperation to coordinate with relevant units to well prepare the programs and follow the planned contents.
