International workshop on housing development and real estate market - International experience and options for Vietnam

On November 26, 2010 at the NationalConvention Centre - Hanoi was held International workshop on housingdevelopment and real estate market - International experience andoptions for Vietnam with the theme 2010: Sustainable urban developmentfrom the perspective of the real estate market in Asia.

Attending the workshop were Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan and Vice Minister Nguyen Tran Nam, Tran Van Son, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Danh Vinh, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Minh Huan; Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thuy Hien,... and reporters from the Japan International Institute for Economic Development, Korea, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, New-Zealand, UN-Habitat .. with representatives from the Association, institutes, universities and more than 1,500 real estate companies, financial institutions, leading banks in Vietnam. Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan - Standing Deputy Director of the Central Steering Committee on housing policy and real estate market has opening speech at the Conference.

On the Opening speech of Minister Nguyen Hong Quan stated that the real estate market had important role and directly affect to the economic growth rate, has close ties with the financial markets, building materials, labor,... Therefore, the development and effective management of this market will contribute to promoting socio-economic development, to attract investment capital to build infrastructure, urban development and sustainable rural, jobs for workers. In recent years, the real estate market of Vietnam has developed a positive step, in the 10 years, the national housing fund has increased by over 700 million m2, which houses the metropolitan area increased about 225 million m2. Although there have been significant contributions to the economy, but the real estate market of Vietnam has revealed shortcomings and problems are not really stable. To overcome these shortcomings, such as state trading in contravention of regulations, real estate prices fluctuate sharply in the income of the people, the openness and transparency is low, capital for real estate market limited mechanisms for land use management inefficiencies, planning did not meet the development needs of the real estate market... demanding field of housing development and real estate market Vietnam needs to have the renewal and supplement and improve on mechanisms, policies and management practices and administration of government agencies at all levels and the participatory role of the investors.

Speech at the conference, Minister Nguyen Hong Quan also expressed to belief the experience to share in the workshop will be an important basis for all levels of government, researchers of Vietnam reference, research and learn to make choices consistent with the model of housing development and real estate market of Vietnam in the coming years.

On November, 26, 2010 afternoon in the opening session, the participants had heard speech of: "The world's financial crisis and experience in using capital budget, ODA,... for the real estate market" of Prof Habibullah Khan - Advisor of World Bank and Consultant Asian General Secretary; " Forecasting the real estate market to urban development and sustainable solutions to water management control and regulate the price of real estate market - Hong Kong experience " of Prof. Stephen Wing-Kai Mak from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; "Urban planning and land using" of Mr. Yoshhiro Yamaguchi - Senior research of the Japan Institute of Construction Engineering.
