In his speech, Vice Minister of Construction Cao Lai Quang said the development orientation for urban water supply of the Country for the first time (to 2020) has been Prime Minister for approval in 1998 has helped boost industry developed countries, gradually meet the needs of the use of urban Vietnam. Over the past 10 years made development orientation of water supply, water supply services across the country has made significant improvements with over 440 water supply system, the total design capacity reaching 5.9 million m3/days, exploitation capacity is 4.5 million m3/days, up more than two times higher than in 1998 (2.1 million m3/days). However, development of urban water supply in recent years still exist a number of inadequacies such as rate of water supply service coverage is low (70%) water quality is not stable, high rate of water loss...
Within the framework of the Program Development Cooperation in Vietnam - Japan, the Japanese government has agreed with the Government of Vietnam on the building and implementation technical support project for human resources development of the urban water supply companies in Central Vietnam through Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA (representing the Japanese side) and the Ministry of Construction (the representative of Vietnam) units are two main partners implement the project.
The main contents of the cooperation include: Raising awareness of the water supply company on human resource management towards safe water supply; construction of short-term training courses for staff are work for water supply companies in the new training center established; development and application refer to operate for the water supply company was selected as a pilot.
Mr. Motonori Tsuno - Chief Representative of JICA hopes this project after it is deployed in the central region will bring efficiency, improve water supply for the people.
