Vietnam and India to strengthen cooperation in construction

On December 11, 2024, in Hanoi, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi met and worked with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam Sandeep Arya.



Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Ambassador Sandeep Arya thanked Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and leaders of units under the Ministry of Construction for taking the time to welcome and work with the delegation of the Indian Embassy to Vietnam.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya said that Vietnam and India have now established a comprehensive strategic partnership and are constantly expanding cooperation in many fields, including construction. He expressed his belief that the two countries still have had great potential for cooperation, especially in the development of urban transport infrastructure, resort real estate, housing, urban development adapting to climate change; and the development of urban railway systems.

Emphasizing India's interest in housing development and urban development in respond to climate change, the Ambassador hoped to welcome the Ministry of Construction's delegation led by the Minister to visit and establish cooperative relations with Indian partner agencies, especially the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development of India.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya also introduced the scholarship and doctoral training programs of the Indian Government for Vietnamese students; and believed that in the coming time, the two sides would continue to achieve new progress in cooperation and development.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly assessed that the Ambassador's suggestions on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Indian Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in the fields of smart urban development, climate change resilience, social housing development and urban railway system. These are also areas that the Ministry of Construction is very interested in and is focusing on implementing in the context that Vietnam is one of the countries that most severely affected by climate change.

The Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Construction always paid attention to and created favorable conditions for international enterprises, including Indian enterprises, to expand cooperation, invest, and implement projects in Vietnam, in accordance with current Vietnamese laws. He hoped that Ambassador Sandeep Arya and the Indian Embassy to Vietnam would act as a bridge to help the Ministry of Construction connect with state management agencies and other Indian partners in the construction sector to promote cooperation between the two sides.

At the end of the working session, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and Ambassador Sandeep Arya agreed to further strengthen the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Indian Embassy and partners in the coming time, especially the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, thereby contributing to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
