Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi receives Japanese Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting with Japanese Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Nishida Shoji on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interes on December 21st at the MoC’s headquarter, in presence of leaders of units under 2 ministries.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi acknowledged the important results achieved in the cooperation relationship between the two ministries over the past time, especially in the fields of technical infrastructure (drainage, wastewater treatment, etc.). ), construction economics (cost estimation, construction contract management), smart city development.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly agreed with cooperation contents discussed and agreed by the two sides at the 8th Vietnam - Japan Conference on construction on December 20th, 2022 and 4th Deputy Ministerial meeting between two ministries on December 21st, 2022; and also thanked Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Japanese Embassy for the interest and cooperation and hoped to continue receiving supports of MLIT, Japanese Embassy and agencies and organizations under the Japanese Government, so that the Ministry of Construction could better fulfill its functions.

Deputy Minister Nishida Shoji thanked Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi for warm welcome and said that, the visit and working session aimed to deepen the relationship between MLIT and MoC. Deputy Minister Nishida Shoji also affirmed that MLIT has actively cooperated and supported the MoC and some Vietnamese localities in implementing drainage and treatment projects. The two sides also agreed to sooner sign an overall cooperation memorandum between the two ministries in 2023.

From Japan's experience in building and issuing long-term plans on management and development of condominiums to solve problems related to this type of real estate, Deputy Minister Nishida Shoji proposed to establish a working group in promoting the management and development of the real estate market (including apartment buildings) including experts of two sides.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that the Ministry of Construction would effectively and closely coordinate with the MLIT in all matters that both sides interested; contibuted to opening a new phase in cooperation between two ministries in particular, between the Governments and people of two countries in general, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in 2023.
