Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh received the World Bank delegation

Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh worked with a delegation of the World Bank (WB), led by Mr. Danny Leipziger - former WB Vice President of WB in charge of Economic Management and Poverty Reduction, the Executive Director of the Growth Dialogue as Head of Mission, on priorities in the National Master Plan including urban system development and integrated solid waste management.

At the meeting, Mr. Danny Leipziger said that in the process of supporting the Ministry of Planning and Investment to complete the National Master Plan, the WB hoped to work with the MoC as well as related ministries and sectors on the Master Plan, and considered the relationship between the National Master Plan and sectorial plans.

According to Mr. Danny Leipziger, the National Master Plan is currently focusing on developing many driving force zones to create momentum for economic development. The implementation of the Master Plan requires a lot of resources, but the WB realizes that the structure of resource allocation has not reached the necessary harmony.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh emphasized the important role of urban areas in the development of each country, including Vietnam. At the moment, Vietnam is focusing on improving the quality of the urban system, developing the circular economy, allocating and rationally using resources, ensuring people's lives.

According to Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh, urban development should be paid attention to gentrification, reconstruction, space expansion, urban economic development, and regional connectivity; improvement of institutions on the overall urban management and specific urban areas; management of underground space and technical infrastructure development. Therefore, the WB needs to study and consult the Ministry of Planning and Investment to clarify these contents in the National Master Plan.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Bui Hong Minh thanked the WB for caring, facilitating and helping the Ministry of Construction over the years and hoped that two sides would further strengthen exchange and cooperation activities in the coming time, contributing to the development and international integration of the construction industry in particular and Vietnam in general.
